My life is full of contrast, and I dig it! I can go from a two-fork dinner (as we referred to the fancy ones when we were younger) to total red-neck double-wide trailer glamour in a snap. Still yet, I wouldn’t flinch to drop $90 on a pair of shoes for my horse, yet $90 shoes for me… Well, forget it. Call me classy.
When my dad sent me a picture message week before last with the text “prada shoe,” I couldn’t help but think “WTF.”
No, this isn’t a cross-dresser gelding (although I think we have a few who would partake in such activities if given the opportunity). This is a really special gelding who suffered from poor genetics and a big heart – He ankle (pastern) is especially low to the ground and coupled with his big speed (his name was Too Fast when we purchased him), he suffered an injury several years ago he’s not yet been able to recover from fully. After rounds of evalution, trials of turn outs (and shut ins), and a lot of alternative therapy pursuit, we’ve discover all this man needs is a little glamour in his life. By simply elevating his heel utilizing a hand-welded steel shoe (dubbed the Prada shoe), Gator’s pastern has miraculously risen, taken away the pressure and a fair amount of pain, and put him on the road to recovery. He instantly acted relieved, licking his lips, and was quick to try and play when he returned home from his pedicure.
So, when I purchased these super cute suede heels from Victoria’s Secret (DUH, on sale!) the other day, I couldn’t help but think that heels can be good for everyone (two AND four-legged!). Perhaps I’m rationalizing…
My horse Passat also wears designer shoes…with special pads to make his sore feet more comfortable. His shoes cost more than mine, AND, he gets two new pair about every six weeks in summer. That’s more than me but he’s worth it!
Love your new shoes! The color is GREAT!
